 | Opera already has 67047="Today %X" in the language file.
By editing a copy of this in the profile directory, we can customize the date format for "today" messages using the info at http://www.opera.com/support/helpfiles/m2resources.html
Please put customizable formats in the language file for current week old and older messages also, so we can have full date customizing capability.
The following would preserve the existing (awful) setup.
; Formats the M2 display of time today 67047="Today %X" ; Formats the M2 display of day and time for current week messages #####="%A %X" ; Formats the M2 display of date for older messages #####="%x"

I'd welcome this.

This would be better than nothing, IMO these options strongly demand a GUI. The one thing I can live with is the today - marker, which I like. But those weekdays are really annoying.
