The mention of the arms of Czech scientists jogged my memory
concerning that scientist, magus, call him what you will, Dr John Dee,
sometime resident of the Faust House in Prague.

According to a recently read biography Dee was granted arms in 1567,
yet they are not described or illustrated. Does anyone know what they
were?

As an aside, does anyone know what arms were granted to Dee's scryer
Edward Kelley when he was made a baron in 1590?

The arms should be described in the following article:

Honc J.: =8Eivot Edwarda Kelleye z Imay, Heraldika a geneaologie 1982/2

I do not have access to the Heraldika and genealogie review so I cannot
check myself.

Gules a lion rampant or within a bordure indented of the 2d. Crest:
a lion sejant guardant or, holding in dexter gamb a cross formée fitchée
azure, on the cross a label with the motto "hic labor", and resting
its sinister gamb on a pyramid or, thereon a label with the motto
"hoc opus". Granted by Clarenceux, July 5, 1576.
(Burke's General Armory).

Knight in Bohemia, rather, and the answer is no because apparently
the records have been destroyed or made illegible, probably after
his disgrace and death (falling out a window while trying to
escape from his jail). This from the article on the arms of
Doctor Faust in _The Armorial_ cited upthread.

Said article is about the various residents of the Faust house.
