I did a google.com search for New York State Gun Clubs and came up with over
400,000 hits. I'm certain that within a couple minutes, you should be able
to find something in a reasonable driving distance.
Check at local gun shops or sporting goods stores and ask the people that
work there. There is probably some good contact potential there.
Check with your local conservation officer, they might have some ideas.
Also, the National Rifle Association offers classes from time to time, you
might want to check their website for a club near you.
