Worse. Popups that hijack browsers. I had to remove a slough of spyware
afterwards.
And it was a stinking ad for spyware!

I'm sorry. I thought everyone had switched to Linux by now. My bad.

It was an underwhelming experience on Linux. Of course, I never have
bothered to plug in all those frigging plugins it wanted.

IE also wants them ... it just has them installed already.

Unfortunately, the only three plugins worth having -- Shockwave, Flash, and
QuickTime, are available only for Macintosh and Windows.

That would be a step backwards, since you've got FreeBSD on there :)

No problem... much. ;-)
I have to use Windoze, due to cost and use of certain programs and the fact
that all our clients use it. Maybe one of these days.

Here's a decent and recent article you may find interesting (I don't
think there's any spyware here)

http://kmself.home.netcom.com/Rants/spyware.html

Care to say what programs you must have that prevent the switch?

One thing to consider is going to Best Buy for one of those huge 100GB
drives for under $100. You could partition the drive and use half for
Windows and half for Linux. When browsing and mailing on the weekends,
you could boot Linux and be a lot safer.

I've got a dual-boot set up at home on my principle machine (triple-boot
on the laptop). So far, I've booted the Windows side exactly 0 times in
18 months since building the machine. 50GB is going to waste.

Bunches. Mostly for my website designs, graphics, etc. I don't have any
that are Linux compatible.

I have a 60GB plus a 10GB backup. I'm not doing another damn thing to this
computer. I'm surprised it hasn't cratered on me already. It's over 5
years old. When I can afford the components, I will build another, for me.
I've built others but sold 'em. Right now, money is tight.

Joe downloaded Linux to his and burned off a cd. He doesn't want to use it
just yet. Like I said, can't disrupt the order of things. When I get
another puter, it will have Linux on it and nothing else.

A well stocked larder negated the need to go outside very
often when it was COLD. But yes I have been out in it. The
wife made me a nice set of ALPACA socks that go to the knees
and turn down like a good pair should. VERY warm and softer
than an angels hair. Did I mention that they are WARM?
