The idea is that the god created everything, including ethereal beings
('angels') as well as living creatures. A group of the ethereal beings
revolted, led by the principal evil, and were cast into eternal torture.

But, being omniscient and omnipotent, God knew this when he created
them... and did not want it any other way.

Evil is a consequence of weakness and ignorance, it is an inevitable
path through creation from nothing to something. One particularly sick
perspective of christianity is the warped ideal of the Garden of Eden,
where humans are basicaly God's pets that do nothing and have no purpose
but greatfully lick his feeding hand.
