Your statement is true but is capable of very wide interpretations, most of which have been explored.
Besides, it's incomplete; it doesn't in any way prevent or even discourage:
Humility before the god but arrogance to mankind.
Service to the god deemed to justify lying to, torture of, and murder of those that serve other gods, or even the same god slightly differently.
