 | According to L Ron Hubbard, scientology is science, there is nothing religious about it.
Of course that was his statement before he discovered the tremendous tax advantages of being a religion..
After that transition was announced, he said to the newly faithful not to be concerned about the transition, it was simply a matter for tax accountants and attourneys.
Now, if you want to get really mad, look up the story, broken by the New York Times, about the secret agreement between the IRS, and scientology, and watch the identities of the leaders of scientology, and the IRS over the years.

Ted Gunderson, former head of the FBI's Los Angeles office, quoted in TIME May 6, 1991:
"In my opinion the church has one of the most effective intelligence operations in the U.S. rivaling even that of the FBI."

How ridiculous. He can't decide if it's an effective intelligence operation or if it rivals the FBI. Those two things are mutually exclusive, Mr. Gunderson.
