But did we really expect Ashlee Simpson to sing well? ;-)

 | I didn't read the first part of this thread because I never heard of Ashlee Simpson.
Is she the one who sang the national anthem at the Orange Bowl? That was the worst I have ever heard.
BTW, why isn't the Orange Bowl football game played IN the Orange Bowl?
Makes you want to go hmmm.

She's ALMOST as bad as Madonna trying to hatchet "Imagine" tonite.
E-fricking-GADS!
I must say the Orange Bowl was classic, though.

http://webpages.charter.net/steerr/ashlee1.jpg (Sorry about the file size, she's not worth the time to edit the file to make it smaller ;-)
We went to SFNE with a friend from out of town back in July, not knowing that she was in the park that day for a radio station concert. Snapped this of her sitting in the brake run on B:TDK, on the train that we were getting on as she and her group got off... Later saw the group getting fake tattoos nearby

You must not have hear her abominize the track she sang last night, then.
I've never been a fan of Madonna's, outside of her business sense (which you must be advocating AS her brilliance), and the stories I've heard about her from certain folks who used to own and run Power Station. And I certainly have never been under the impression that she had a decent voice. I respect what she did. She tore it up and made it; I respect that, but it doesn't green light a shitty voice.
If it weren't for the cause she was supporting with her rendition of a dying mud flap, the media would headline Simpson to move over and share the spotblight.

 | Dave, I realize I should have specified that the "bleached blonde sister" I was referring to was Jessica, not Madonna, but I was afraid to actually type out the name Je----- Sim---- lest either my fingers fell off or my keyboard exploded in protest.
The only Simpsons I think should be recording music these days are Homer and Bart.
Meanwhile, can we make Britney vanish also?
Or better yet, is there a petition to stop ALL pop "music"?

Well, no. That would imply "entertainment," and there is nothing of the sort with this twit!
Imagine, if you will, one of the spice girls, only with zero talent, a big ugly nose, and who's vocals are akin to running your nails down a chalkboard. That's Ashlee Simpson!

Well, everyone at that game anyway. However, music and capitalism go hand in hand today and her album "Autobiography" sold 2.42 million copies worldwide in 2004, making it the 31st bestselling album. With numbers like that, I doubt her absence will be long. From what I hear, her show gets decent ratings too.
Unfortunately, the untalented singers of America keep finding work. Anyone remember Roseanne Barr/Arnold/Whatever's performance of "The Star Spangled Banner" a number of years back? It caused protests!

True, but Roseanne isn't a singer and no one expected her to sing well. It was what she did [i.e. grabbing her crotch] morso than her awful vocals that caused the uproar

Oh my god. I got a mental image for 12 seconds of Roseanne from the TV sitcom, grabbing herself and screaming "DARLENE."
Then I re-read what you were talking about.

 | Considering all that she's gone through, I wouldn't think she would even *want* to be in the public eye anymore. People have made it painfully clear that they don't like/want her (see- Orange Bowl), but Ashlee's management keeps pushing her on everyone.
She was precisely sculpted to be this angry rebel rocker who they thought would appeal to 14 year old girls, and she did! Problem is, most of the "buying public" is not made up of 14 year old girls. Now, her producers and managers don't want to accept defeat - they spent too much time and money on Ashlee.
So, anyway, while you're at it, can somebody stop Jessica Simpson too? I find her more irritating than Ashlee. Why is this family being pushed on us to outrageously? Not only do the sisters get record contracts, they both get TV shows? And, for Jessica, it's not just ONE show, she has like two or three! You can't turn on TV without seeing the Simpson sisters in your face. It's like, GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME ALREADY! ACK.
