Dear Students,
the Chair of Computer Science V - Information Systems is looking for a
student to administrate our DB2 database system, and to install a new
server soon. The systems are/will be running on Linux.
Task:
- - keep the server running
- - regular backups
- - user administration
- - maintenance, updates, patches, installation of extensions
- - introduce others into the client side usage of the database system,
~ possibly client installation and maintenance
We require:
- - fluent knowledge of German or English (better both ;-)
- - knowledge in Linux usage/basic administration,
~ or that of other unix-based systems
- - knowledge in administrating a database system
- - participation in the two main lectures of I5,
~ Introduction to Database Systems and
~ Implementation of Databases
~ (or at least the knowledge of the concepts lectured therein,
~ relational databases, SQL, transactions, index organisation and such)
As you will need some time to learn the important aspects of the job, we
expect you to stay on for at least two years.
