Hello,

Are there any disadvantages to using a chemical to set the desired PH value?

I want to keep Lake Malawi Cichlids, and the PH needs to be 8.0. There is
a chemical product called "Auto PH 8.0". Should I use this?

Regards,

Gary.

pH is not easily changed. here's some water test parameters that should =
be posted and tested regularly (esp. the one's in BOLD). It would be a =
good idea to print this chart or create your own. I do use pH down =A9 =
while monitoring my buffers. To also reduce my chemical that I have to =
add, I collect rainwater. That has been a real help. Take a look at =
these sites and maybe this will help you...
