 | Is it something in a solvent that fills in a scratch with a clear material with a refractive index that matches that of the lens? What about the excess that coats the non-scratched area, does it spread itself reasonably uniformly?
I would like to see something for automobile windscreens, that would fill in the very small sand pits that accumulate over time.

That is my understanding, but I doubt it is a great match given Marc Reinig's response. Even water (if you could get it to stay in place) helps, and it's index is 1.33 vs. 1.5 for a typical glass. Not sure about your other questions.

 | Honestly, are there any people out there who have actually used this and know if it works? The original poster is just peddling his wares:

 | If you have very slight abrasions on your glasses, it helps. But, it does little for real scratches.

They have kits for doing that already, and the compound probably is similar.
