 | Hello,
I'm looking for some materials for gap filling.
I fabricated some photonic device which is consist of PD, and silica on silicon waveguide in our lab.
There is 100~150 micron gap between waveguide and PD, and index matching problem occured. So, I want to fill it with some proper material which has refractive index around 1.462
I thought that polymer or SOG (spin on glass) will function to it.
But the dn/dT of polymer is about -1.5 * 10^-4 so that at a high temperature (~80 degree C) my device doesn't work correctly.
Also, SOG has some problem now like crack or refractive index tuning problem..
CVD or other thin film deposition methods are not fit to my purpose.
I need some materials that can be used like epoxy.
Most of epoxies are too expensive for my device... so that I couldnt choose it.
Is there any materials like that :
1. it must be able to be hardened by thermal or UV curing 2. adhesive characteristics are not needed. (All device elements are already fixed) 3. Refractive index (after hardened) is around 1.462 @ 633nm wavelength (at room temperature) 4. I want to adjust it's refractive index by mixing with some solvent.. or some other methods ? (index adjustable .. tuning range is 1.45~1.47 )
I will thanks to any comment.
thank you.

A 150 micron film of epoxy is too expensive?
