 | For years, San Diego's best French restaurant was in Tijuana (Tour de France). Now it's in Escondido, and the address is the name.
Four of us for lunch, a modest bottle of wine, shared desserts = $120 or so. It's not cheap, but the food is wonderful and well presented. Ambience is a solid 5 on a scale of 10, but it's Escondido - on Grand...
Chef is Carlton... one visit and four dishes can't tell the whole tale, but he seems to know his stuff.

Well, it was lunch. The wine was a middling Napa cab ($30) from a pretty good list. For the four of us we had a beef salad, an entree portion of mussels (heavy on the saffron!), a huge seafood cocktail, and another seafood plate. Desserts (two) were a mousse and an orange cake. Coffee for three. I checked, and total was $114 plus tip.
I rate the food terrific, ambience so-so, service excellent, overall value good. With Donald's Belgian Lion gone, this is among the best available in the San Diego area.

How would you say the 150 Grand compares with Sirino's, the French Market Grille, or even El Bizcocho?

I think the food's on par with El Bizcocho, though I like EB's bouillabaisse a LOT (I only saw the lunch menu at 150G). FMG is lightweight compared to EB's atmosphere, and the food isn't at the same level at 150G and EB. I've never been to Sirino's but if you put it at this level it's worth a visit.
Perhaps *my* bottom line is that based on limited experience, I'd rather have lunch at 150G and dinner at EB.
