How is Phil's Bar-B-Q? Is it worth the trip from North County?

Generally, I'd say no. It is probably worth a stop if you are in the
area. derdude - where in North County? Coastal, inland, etc.? This
would help one tailor alternate suggestions.

Per the post you replied to, I do not have their address in San Marcos.
If you use the tinyurl I provided, it should be in one of those seven
messages.

It is T&H Meats and has been commented on by several. They also make
their own sausages and so on. I don't have their address in my Palm.
They are in San Marcos, on Mission Road across from the new high school
(west of the campus is a stop light, going south on that puts you right
into their parking lot) or just east of the old dairies.

This link takes you to messages about T&H:

That's been the group consensus, it seems. I went there shortly after
it opened, and thought it was OK, but either I am not as discriminating
or they slid.

A place I have tried in San Marcos is Mister Hoggs Blues City BBQ. It
is in the strip mall at the northeast corner of San Marcos Blvd. and
Rancho Santa Fe Rd (623 S. Rancho Santa Fe Road). They are close to
"Memphis Style" BBQ, FWIW, but are probably more a hybrid than
anything. I found this web page - it is pretty difficult to find them
listed in the usual online sites:

http://www.sandiegolooknsave.com/biz_pages/SANM-0004.asp?Merchant=SANM-0004&XT=2/28/2004&XY=A6

I thought they were pretty good, in my opinion a better "BBQ
experience" than that of Phil's (which I like, but don't really
consider real BBQ).

I think T&H would be the better bet.
