 | Dear List members
My grandfather, Arthur Fitzpatrick Johnston and his brother John Thomas Lowrie Johnston, were believed to have raced horses or had trotters over in New Zealand at some time in the early 1900s. Both were married in Wagga Wagga NSW in 1908, July and November. My mother thinks they went to New Zealand, involved with horses at some time before they married. I believe I have narrowed the time down to possibly between 1905 and 1908, but I could be a little out there.
The only other clue I have is that it could have been Christchurch where they had the horses. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could make inquiries about their horses or trotters? Who would be the relevant authorities that I could contact?
Thanking anyone who may have any suggestions
Vicki

If it was trotters then the Harness Racing of New Zealand, would be a good start.
