Any member of the group have information about a murder at Castlemaine
in 20 May 1861. The case is also known as the James Lawrenson case.

Where would I locate the transcripts etc

My guess would be to check with the Public Record Office of Victoria (PROV).
It they don't have it (and they should), then they will point you in the
right direction.

Toodles.

Located at the Public Record Office of Victoria (PROV). Cannot find
the record number at the moment but my depleted memory tells me that
the file was called something like "Capital Cases Files" when I
accessed them several years ago. There is also things like the
Prisoner Record Books in which many interesting details about the
Prisoners can be found including in many cases, prisoner photographs.

Hope this helps.
Fred.
