 | Hi All
I know this has been asked before, but what is the consensus on the best program to use these days.
I currently use PAF 5.0 but need something better as I have family in other states and I regularly send updates across and find PAF too hard for this

 | Hi All,
I use five versions of family history software all at once which is a bit of a nuisance however these are the reasons:
Family Tree Maker is my master copy. I love the calendar it produces with all birthdays and anniversaries presented in a great way. I can then add pictures to suit and make a great family gift. For the life of me I cannot find the file which contains the pictures that I save but they must be there somewhere because they are in my scrapbook. I hate the way the pictures are distorted when I print my books but then it must not be a program for that so I use........
Legacy for producing good pictures. I also like the one page pedigree printout. It is set out very well...........
I also use Family Historian because I love the descendant outline and ancestor outline better in this program. There are a few improvements I would like to make to this printout, however, it seems to be the best I have tried.
And I use Brothers Keeper because I like the set out of the family tree where you can list all members of the family on a A4 page showing grandparents and their children and grandchildren and great grandchildren etc in a way which is very easy to understand. The first generation starts on the left hand side and then they go across to the right. The kids love this to see all their cousins so clearly.
Finally Heredes has a simple little diagram to show another way to present a family:
-------------- | ----------------- | | ---------- ------------- ------------ ------------- ----- -------- | | | ------ -------- -------- ---------- ----------- -------- --------- ----------
I use this diagram a lot when giving a family tree as a gift.
If I get behind with one program I simply import a gedcom. All programs have been purchased by me. "I love them all".
