 | It is easy for opponents of the Iraq war and occupation to get caught up speaking about it as a failure, series of failures, miscalculations or outright incompetence.
I don't believe that.
I believe that the neo-cons have been very successful.
*military contracts for Carlyle group holdings and other military resource providers
*extortion money for the Carlyle group http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A30798-2004Oct13? language=printer http://www.pipeline.com/~rgibson/carlyle.html
*billions of dollars in no bid contracts to Cheney's old company Halliburton.
*locking Iraq into decades long contracts with foreign companies
*raping the cofers of Iraq by the Interim government
*opening Iraq as a free market experiment benefitting most any but the Iraqi people themselves
*larger defense budget
*larger intelligence budget
*eroding civil liberties at home in the name of 'war on terror'
*control of Iraqi oil
*reparations to American companies by Iraq (yeah it blows my mind) http://www.guardian.co.uk/Columnists/Column/0,5673,1328888,00.html
*re-election
--Others anyone ?
Seems like it's going pretty well for the neo-cons. After all, it's not their kids dying over there, or their homes being bombed or their ground being poisoned.
When they leave office finally, they'll be even more wealthy with no worries. They don't have to worry about a recession, lack of civil liberties, or just about any other thing that the honest folks in this country have to worry about daily.
That's just Iraq. Anyone want to try and tackle their successes domestically?
