 | President Bush strikes again. Now he wants to cut medicaid to finance his tax cuts for millionaires.
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/ap/20050122/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_benefit_cuts
The ultimate reverse-Robin-Hood is once again going after poor people so he can continue giving fiscally reckless taxcuts to millionaires. Remember 33% of Bush tax cuts went to the upper 1% who earn 1.2 million per year, or $576.00 per hour in terms the rest of us can understand. 70% of Bush tax cuts went to the upper 20%.
What does Bush propose to keep these ridiculous tax cuts for millionaires (remember, any tax hikes are "off the table")? He proposes destroying Social Security to save money and balance the budget right on the back of poor people. He proposes cutting Medicare and Medicaid, which will devastate poor and middle class people. It is trickle-down economics run amuck.
Remember the Clinton years? Eight years of peace and prosperity is what most people remember. Also remember that rich people did perfectly fine during the Clinton years. Why did Bush target these millionaires for huge tax rollbacks when they were doing perfectly fine? Again this is simple. Bush is purposely bankrupting the country so he can get rid of things he hates, like Social Security and Medicare. Bush doesn't care that the vast majority of America loves Social Security. Bush doesn't care that Medicare is essential to the health and wellbeing of millions of senior citizens.
That Bush can successfully bankrupt America "and" funnel all the wealth to his rich buddies at the same time is just icing on the cake for this sociopath who is president.

You can't give tax cuts to the freeloaders who don't pay any taxes at all. Especially a) the breeders who clog up the school system and pay very little of its cost, and b) those who don't take any responsiblity for their own health (smokers, drinkers, etc.) on the theory they are going to die anyway and rely on government handouts like Medicare/aid to pay for their irresponsible lifestyles.

 | Sounds like a good idea to me, if the report is true. We should learn to pay for our own needs, and not depend on someone else to pay that cost.

I'd say the answer is yes.
the worst part is the tens of thousands of otherwise decent men that went to war and will now come home as violent whackjobs like the returning Vietnam vets did.
Start building more prisons, we're gonna need them to house all the Silver Star recipients after they go postal at their 5.15 an hour jobs.

"Lobbyists and lawmakers' aides, speaking on condition of anonymity,"
What a crock of left-wing shit!
-- My skin crawls when I think of the first week after 9/11. I was looking out of the window and there were people walking down the street carrying American flags. It reminded me of spontaneous, angry Nazis and I thought, 'Oh, man, we are in a lot of trouble'. There's a whole bunch of people who have flags hanging from their cars and who are mistaking fascism for patriotism."

 | LHA,
If this weren't so sadly typical of the Bush/Rove/Cheney/Rumsfeld administration it would be funny. But it's not.
A few posts ago I read where you quoted an AP news story as Gospel truth. Now you call an AP news story, "What a crock of left-wing shit!"
Now, now. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Choose where you stand and quit waffling. You can be either a Progressive or a Regressive - it's your choice. In this case it may be a rhetorical question however, since you make it clear that you are a died-in-the-wool regressive.

Bob, 1992 -- "The only difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits." - Albert Einstein -- Writing for the Baltimore Evening Sun on 26 July 1920, in an article entitled "Bayard vs. Lionheart" (and reprinted in the book On Politics: A Carnival of Buncombe), H. L. Mencken opined cynically on the difficulties of good men reaching national office when such campaigns must necessarily be conducted remotely:
"The larger the mob, the harder the test. In small areas, before small electorates, a first-rate man occasionally fights his way through, carrying even the mob with him by force of his personality. But when the field is nationwide, and the fight must be waged chiefly at second and third hand, and the force of personality cannot so readily make itself felt, then all the odds are on the man who is, intrinsically, the most devious and mediocre — the man who can most easily adeptly disperse the notion that his mind is a virtual vacuum.
"The Presidency tends, year by year, to go to such men. As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright *moron*." H. L. Mencken, 1920
