It's forty five degrees, and the ski areas (Mt. Hood, and that
big ski area near Bend, OR) have shut down this weekend for lack
of snow. I'm waiting for the forsythia to start budding.

This happened because I bought a show shovel earlier this month
in response to dire predictions of blizzard conditions, which
turned out to be a day of freezing rain and then a rapid melt.

I'd offer you some of the 14 inches that fell yesterday,
but I kinda like it where it is. Really light and fluffy, I
can wade through it with no problem (though my legs
get kinda wet after a while), and it looks great. Really
easy to sweep off the car, too.

besides, posting it through the USPS never works,
darn it.

That was a ripoff? We got almost an inch on Christmas Eve night, the first
snowfall that actually stuck on the ground in the Houston area since
1973...and a hundred miles or so to the southwest, Victoria got nearly a foot
of flakes. On down the road, Matamoros (right across the bridge from
Brownsville) got its first recorded snow since 1896, but all we got up here in
the big city was enough to coat the tops of cars, and the ground was too warm
for it to pile up. (To top it off, the local ice rink down the street from us
was closed, so I couldn't borrow their Zamboni and do our street up properly.)

I've got thirty inches or so in my back yard that I would happily ship
to you, but Cash would be very upset if someone made his snow disappear.

I would love to see pictures of Cash and snow. How about a descriptive
passage?

NYC is a winter wonderland. The snow is too powdery to pack, and the dogs
in the building are not staying out in the cold for very long.
