Sun, 03 Jan 2010 14:13:38 GMT British scientists have developed a strong, flexible, and resistant to blood clotting artificial artery that pulses rhythmically to match the beat of the heart. http://www.presstv.ir/photo/20100103/khashayar20100103163027968.jpg In existing surgical treatments, a plastic graft or preferably a vein taken from the patient's leg is used to bypass or replace the damaged vessel; many patients, however, do not have suitable veins. Plastic arteries that are available for grafting are made from the same nylon used in clothing. They therefore are not flexible enough to pump the blood; their surface also stimulates the clotting process. Such a technology has been less successful for grafts of less than 8mm. The new bypass grafts, made from polymer material using nanotechnology, can mimic the natural pulsing of human blood vessels and therefore deliver nutrients to body tissues. The wall of these arteries is in fact strong enough to withstand blood pressure throughout an individual's life. London's Royal Free Hospital researchers hope these arteries can soon be used to save the life of thousands of patients with vascular diseases early this year. "We welcome this interesting development, which could potentially be of enormous benefits to patients who need a bypass operation to treat their coronary heart disease," said Judy O'Sullivan of the British Heart Foundation. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. The light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
