The underwear bomber is a serious case of bad comedic timing. He's the very first person in the world who attempted to crash an airplane BY BLOWING UP HIS BALLS! He may not be too bright, but he was certainly commited! Or else badly needed to be! Why didn't he go to the bathroom and blow up his balls in private? He could have come one last time before he went to heaven with 71 virgins ... and no balls? But they "forgot" to give him a blasting cap, so there was never any danger of an explosion!
