just a quick update of life here in southern NJ....

Danielle (BO's daughter) left friday for Aiken for a month...so we've
all been pitching in to do barn chores. Nate has become a champion
sweeper!

Tuesday night I had just gotten on Macho when all of a sudden, it
sounded like a car was slamming into the outisde of the indoor! but
nope...it was a sheet of ice that came crashing down...Macho launched
himself up and out...we bounced a few times and I hollered WHOA! and
what do you know, that horse stood stock still! I'm still a little
surprized that I stayed on. after a minute to regroup, I picked up
the reins, and still shaking...went back to work. Macho is such a
good boy...he just went back to work, did not spook at that side of
the ring, was a golden dream boat boy.

Have I mentioned how wonderful he is???

Wed. I went over to the barn during the day...horses were inside.
Called linda to say "want them out" and the answer was..."uhhhhh,
no". reason being....

it appears we may actually have a very large kitty cat on the loose.
Back in September, a horse a few miles away was literally mauled to
the point where the horse had to be euthanized. Since then, several
sitings of a large cat/cougar have been made.

Tuesday evening, our barn owners cousin was walkign her lab at the end
of the farm....there is a small few acre wooded area, and the "cougar"
was spotted. The "story" is that someone in the township had the cat
(illegally) as a pet, and could not longer control it, and turned it
loose.....

Tracks were found. We will see what animal control says. (did not see
anyone last night at the barn to ask). A few weeks ago, Katie and
Macho, along with another boarder, went for a hack back there. Macho,
who is usually good as gold, was an absolute bug eyed wreck...to the
point where I ended up walking along and keeping a hand on the rein.
Initially, I had thought he was just being a goofball....now I wonder
if it is possible he had smelled or sensed something.
